Farm House – Tongarra

A new farm house positioned to take advantage of prevailing breezes, northern sun and sweeping views in all directions from the escarpment to the sea.

The site is a northeast-facing hillside in the upper Tongarra Valley below the cliff line surrounded by lush dairy country and rain forested national parks. The house setting is the natural slope of meadow with terraced vegetable gardens formed on the hillside above the living level.

It has an open timber structure sitting on a solid base. The middle level contains the living areas which open to large outdoor terraces formed by this base. The encompassing roof form / top level contains the main bedroom, study and ensuite. The base contains the ancillary service rooms, garages and secondary bedrooms cut into the hill slope.
