Lake House – Pacific Palms

The genesis for this house is the site which slopes gently towards the view of Wallis Lake to the north east. The house is aligned to an existing path that which starts at the entry to the property following the contours of a small hill, and passes between the house and a proposed studio before leading down to the shore of the lake below.

The building was to be made entirely of Australian Hardwood with a very open structure in order to take the best advantage of the view, breezes and sunlight. The views are framed through this matrix of posts as in the manner of traditional Japanese place making known as “Borrowed Landscape”. The building is organised with the spine of service rooms through the middle level and the living and bedrooms on the lower and upper levels.
