Clifftop House – Bilgola

Awards Credits ????

Clifftop House is situated on an exposed south-facing headland that on a clear day enjoys views as far south as Sydney Heads. The house is arranged as an ensemble of rooms held together by a sheltered courtyard that invites living outside, while on sunny winter days serving to warm the house. All the rooms have a direct or borrowed view into the landscape. The outlook from each is framed differently in order to permit the viewers imagination to wander in the landscape that is transformed in the ‘frame’.

The house has very little street presence with the roof sited below street level and planted with native cliff-top species. The garage is tucked into the highest part of the site beneath tall trees and the small entry gate is the only built element that is clearly visible.
